METAMORPHOSIS #2

Initially created for digital as part of the Art Rue DPDW, Metamorphosis #2 is a theatrical performance in which Essia Jaïbi directs Jalila Baccar in a common writing.
The project was performed for the first time in October 2022 in “Dribet Dar Hussein” (Medina of Tunis) as part of Dream City Festival.
An actress locked in a glass cage. The voice of her daughter, the stage director and the investigator, who questions her while she plays.
What does your mother do?
« Me, my mom, she’s playing! »
For a long time, I wanted to believe that I knew my mother.
Well yes it is MY mother.
Besides, I made her a mother, my mother.
When I was four, I went to the theater, I watched the stage and my mother was 80.
I got scared, I ran away. Years later, I understood.
My mother is an actress.
Her job is to play, to transform, to shape-shift.
Now that I’m no longer 4, I wanted to play.
The mother is always there, and the actress is faced with the stage.
In imaginary backstage, facing her infinite reflection, she is visited by her multiple
metamorphoses.

In « Metamorphosis #2 » by Essia Jaïbi, the spectator is drawn into a parallel space/time. Immersive and gripping, the performance provokes reflection through the depth of its theme and is distinguished by its direction and technical aspects. Enriched by the performance of Jalila Baccar, it belongs to a contemporary, unconventional theater unique to the director and playwright.
